Leicester City have contacted Arsenal over the possibility of taking winger Marquinhos (20) on loan for the season.

As Leicester City look to make an immediate return back to the Premier League, new Foxes boss Enzo Maresca has identified Arsenal winger Marquinhos as a candidate to help them achieve that this year.

The former League champions were relegated last season after finishing the campaign in 18th, managing only nine wins from their 38 appearances.

However, with the former Man City assistant now at the helm, the Foxes stand a good chance of sealing promotion back to the Premier League.

Having already signed the likes of Harry Winks (Tottenham Hotspur), Conor Coady (Wolves) and Mads Hermansen (Brondby), Leicester now have their sight set on Arsenal’s young Brazilian, Marquinhos.

The 20-year-old joined the Gunners on a long-term deal from São Paulo last season and is considered a player for the future.

After making only one appearance during his first six months, he joined championship side Norwich City on loan in January in the hopes of getting more regular first team minutes.

He scored one goal in 11 appearances before returning to North London last month. He is currently on preseason tour in the USA with the Gunners.

A Brazilian youth international, he was part of the Selecao’s U20 side that took part at this year’s U20 World Cup in Argentina.

CANARIES: Marquinhos joined Norwich City on loan in January.

Arsenal do not want to let him go on a permanent basis and are only open to a loan move.

The São Paulo born winger is highly rated by Gunners boss Mikel Arteta and is still part of the club’s future plans.

With the Gunners likely to sign another right sided attacker this summer, a loan move back to Championship could be the perfect solution for the young Brazilian.
